Predict.io is developing a sensor network based on mobile phones. Our product helps our customers solving their problems ranging from detection of free parkings over marketing automation to customer flow analytics for retail companies.
We are looking for a skilled developer with machine learning or data analysis experience to accelerate the current technology development. You will report directly to the CTO and be part of a small, focused product team.

Your responsibilities

o Continuously improve predict.io’s multiple mobile phone sensors based system to detect state of movement and context
o Partner with the CTO to design and develop advanced machine learning and predictive analytics capabilities for user movements on mobile platforms and in our backend
o Participate in the complete algorithm development process: define the data collection process, process the collected data, test and train different algorithms, implement the findings in mobile or backend systems
o Optimize sensor usage to meet required precision and battery usage
o Perform large-scale data analysis by developing effective heuristics and statistical models for pattern recognition, segmentation, classification, general optimization and time series analysis
o Analyse the collected sensor and location data, generate on demand reports and build live views on the aggregated data
o Survive regular Nerf-gun battles in the office 

Job requirements

Not all of it, but most of it:
o Extensive experience in mobile development (Swift or Java/Kotlin) and backend development (python), ideally in both
o Passionate for test driven development
o DevOps experience (AWS) is a plus
o Experience in machine learning, ideally in pattern recognition in time series data
o Pragmatic, performance driven and hands-on mindset
o Hands on experience with statistical analysis, visualization and data mining tools such as R, Hadoop, Spark, S3, EMR or similar tools
o Experience in statistical modelling, algorithm development, and data mining of massive datasets and events
o Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL database systems
o Ability to work and communicate in a fast-paced international environment
o Comprehensive education in a quantitative discipline (e.g. MSc in either Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research) or equivalent proof of knowledge
o Absolutely fluent in English; German is a plus but not mandatory
o Motivation to be flexible in an agile start-up – things change fast!
